When do courses run?
MLS has courses throughout the year except Christmas/New Year and Easter.
What is the total
capacity of the School?
Moor Cottage has classroom accommodation for 18 students.
How big are the classes?
Maximum 9 students in one class.
How is the school
staffed?
Manchester Language School has a full-time Principal, Course Director and
Administrator. They are assisted by a team of specialist part-time teachers.
Where do Manchester
Language School students come from?
Last year students from 25 different countries studied at MLS
(Columbia, Brazil, Korea, China, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany,
Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Libya, Mexico, Norway,
Poland, Ukraine, USA, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and
Turkey).
How many hours per
week?
Full-time courses range from 15 - 20 hours per week. Part-time from one and
half hours. In addition, many courses have a full accompanied social/activities
programme.
What accommodation
is provided?
Limited residential accommodation is available within the school. The majority
of MLS clients stay with local host families or in a hotel of their choice.
What is the social
programme?
From theatres to night clubs, from out-door markets to designer outlets, from
football to fly-fishing Manchester has it all! MLS specialises in devising
varied and balanced programmes to match clients' interests.
What about excursions
outside Manchester?
Manchester is surrounded by four National Parks and several historic cities.
The English Lake District is only 90 minutes from Manchester. MLS selects
destinations on the basis of clients' interests and requests. Most courses
include a minimum of two excursions outside Manchester per week. Additional
excursions e.g. London, Edinburgh, Stratford may be booked with our help. The
cost varies according to season and duration.
Can I visit Manchester
United and the Lake District?
Manchester United has an excellent Visitors' Centre. A visit there
includes the museum and a tour of the ground. The Lake District is the most
popular excursion destination for all MLS students.
Is Manchester Language
School recognised?
MLS is a member of the Association of British
Language Schools. ABLS represents smaller language schools throughout
the UK. ABLS inspects bi-annually to a high standard. ABLS members are
recognised by the BTA and the Home Office Immigration and Nationality
Directorate as providers of bona fide services for English language students.
What are the extras?
None. MLS courses are a package of formal tuition, informal
social activities and excursions.
