Splendid Summer Gardens

This tour takes place when English gardens are at their most glorious. Roses merge into herbaceous borders and the walls of gardens and country houses are covered with climbing plants.  The six magnificent gardens and areas  visited include Dunham Massey, Levens Hall with a seven lake tour of the English Lake District, Arley Hall garden, the Peak District palace of Chatsworth, Wollerton Old Hall and Powis Castle, Wales.

Sunday 1/8 ARRIVALS
  Arrivals Manchester Airport.
Transfer to host families.
Monday 2/8 INTRODUCTION TO MANCHESTER
Morning Discover Manchester, orientation tour of the city centre with its impressive Victorian and modern buildings and new landscaping.
Afternoon Dunham Massey historic garden and landscape.
Evening Dinner with host family.
Tuesday 3/8 LEVENS HALL TOPIARY GARDEN 
Morning Levens Hall, a tower house dating from 1250 with an exceptional 300-year-old topiary garden.
Afternoon Seven lake tour of the Lake District including Sawrey (home of the author of Peter Rabbit, Beatrix Potter) and Grasmere home to the English Romantic poet, William Wordsworth.
Evening Arrive Manchester.
Dinner with host families.
Wednesday 4/8 ARLEY HALL GARDEN
Morning English conversation class and garden briefing.
Afternoon Visit to Arley Hall via the pretty village of Great Budworth. Knutsford antique shops.
Evening Dinner with host families.
Last Orders Fletcher Moss
Thursday 5/8 CHATSWORTH
All day Depart for Chatsworth The ‘Palace of the Peak', a 17th century palace with a rich collection of art and antique furniture.
Evening  Arrive Manchester.
Dinner with host family
Friday 6/8 WOLLERTON OLD HALL - COTTAGE GARDEN
Morning English conversation class.
Afternoon Wollerton Old Hall. This is a great garden of choice borrowings so that the "Arts and Crafts" (Liberty) movement, Hidcote, Sissinghurst and Lutyens' garden themes are all woven into a customised spirit of beauty. Return via Bridgemere Garden World, a vast garden centre! Dinner with host family or optional Curry Night
Saturday 7/8 POWIS CASTLE
All day Depart for Wales and Powis Castle - a spectacular setting of great beauty. Return via the ancient and picturesque City of Chester.
Evening Arrive Manchester.
Farewell Party with host families.
Sunday 8/8 DEPARTURES
