Teachers' Courses are
led by Judith Godfrey, Principal of Manchester Language School
and Stephanie Aldred, Course Director. Specialist teachers
and lecturers contribute to each course as required.
Judith and Stephanie
have worked together for 20 years running residential English
courses at the University of Manchester and for many years
have run the ACE Puppetry in Education project. This promoted
language learning through arts activities with children
in primary and secondary schools as well as with teachers
in training institutions and universities. They currently
provide special training workshops and demonstrations for
practising and trainee teachers from abroad and have worked
with teachers from France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia,
Finland, Sweden and Japan.
Judith Godfrey and Stephanie
Aldred have collaborated on a number of course books and
audio tapes including 'Here And Now' - a course book for
summer vacation courses, 'Here and Now Documentaries' -
a more advanced book for students ready to work with authentic
English texts and 'Literary Landscapes', an overview of
the history of English literature specially designed for
students of English as a foreign language. (See Study Holidays:
Literary Landscapes.)
Note: MLS does not prepare students for the Teaching of English as
a Foreign Languages (TEFL) cetificate.
